Success Without Design, April 2016 Event

April 6th, 2016 (NYC): NYU Development Research Institute hosted Matt Ridley, author of The Evolution of Everything: How New Ideas Emerge, in conversation with William Easterly, DRI Co-Director and author of The Tyranny of Experts: Economists, Dictators, and the Forgotten Rights of the Poor.

The speakers grappled with the challenge of achieving economic and political development without design, and how practitioners, intellectuals, and students alike can strive to understand the critical role that spontaneity and individual autonomy play in the process of development. Held at NYU Global Center's Grand Hall, the event was packed to capacity and featured stimulating lectures by both speakers, as well as a thoughtful and lively interaction with audience members.
